This is the complete glow plug and control module kit for NCV3 Sprinters equipped with the 3.0L OM642 diesel engine from 2007–2013 with metal-tip glow plugs, covering all six plugs and the control unit for a complete glow plug system restoration.

What's Included

Six metal-tip glow plugs (0011595001) — one per cylinder — replace the full OM642 V6 glow plug set simultaneously. The glow time control unit (6429001402) is the electronic module that monitors each glow plug's circuit resistance, controls plug activation timing before and after cold starts, and stores fault codes when a plug fails. When the control module fails, it either stops energizing the plugs (causing cold start problems with no individual plug faults) or stores incorrect fault codes for plugs that are actually functional. Replacing both the plugs and the module together ensures the new plugs are operating under a correctly functioning control system.

Why Kit Versus Individual Parts

A failed glow plug control module often presents as multiple plug failures simultaneously — the module incorrectly identifies individual plugs as failed when the control unit itself is the fault source. Replacing plugs alone without the module results in the same fault codes returning immediately after installation. This kit addresses both causes in a single service.

Critical: Verify Glow Plug Type Before Ordering

The OM642 transitioned from metal to ceramic glow plugs approximately in 2013. Metal and ceramic plugs are not interchangeable, and the control modules are different.
