What This Part Does

The right bi-xenon headlight assembly is the complete passenger-side headlamp housing containing the bi-xenon projector module, HID xenon ballast, low beam and high beam optics, turn signal lamp, and daytime running light elements — all integrated into a single sealed unit. On a bi-xenon system, a single D-series xenon arc lamp serves both low beam and high beam functions through a solenoid-actuated shield inside the projector that moves to change the beam cutoff when high beam is selected. This allows the xenon lamp's full output to be used for both functions without the weight and cost of a separate high beam lamp. The ballast generates and regulates the high-voltage supply required to strike and sustain the xenon arc.
