A leaking valve cover gasket on the T1N Sprinter's OM647 is one of the most common top-end oil leaks on the platform — and one of the easiest to address before it becomes a bigger problem. Oil seeping from the valve cover rail works its way down the sides of the engine, soaks into wiring harnesses, and can reach the exhaust manifold where it burns off and creates smoke. This Elring OEM valve cover gasket set for the OM647 2.7L 5-cylinder diesel restores a clean, leak-free top-end seal.

What This Part Does

The valve cover gasket seals the mating surface between the aluminum valve cover and the cylinder head, containing the engine oil that lubricates the valvetrain above. Over time the rubber gasket material hardens, shrinks, and cracks from repeated heat cycling — allowing oil to seep past the cover rail. This set includes the main cover gasket and the injector tube seals, covering all top-end sealing points disturbed during valve cover removal.

When to Replace

Replace when you notice oil seeping from the top of the engine along the valve cover rail, when the engine smells of burning oil, or any time the valve cover is removed for injector service, valve adjustment, or any other valvetrain work. Never reuse the original gasket after valve cover removal.

T1N OM647 Only

This gasket set is specific to the 2004–2006 T1N Sprinter with the OM647 2.7L 5-cylinder diesel. It is not compatible with the 2001–2003 OM612 or any NCV3/VS30 Sprinter. Always verify your VIN and engine code before ordering.
