The intake manifold connecting pipe is a rigid socket that links the left and right intake manifold assemblies on the OM642 V6, ensuring that charge air is properly distributed across both banks. On a high-mileage engine or after any intake manifold removal, these seals harden and crack — introducing unmetered air into the intake circuit that the ECU can't account for.
