The swirl flap motor built into this manifold is prone to failure — and when the flaps break off, debris can be ingested directly into the engine. Even without catastrophic flap failure, a cracked or warped manifold causes air leaks that trigger fault codes and degrade performance. This is the Genuine Mercedes-Benz right (passenger) side intake manifold for 2010–2018 NCV3 Sprinters with the OM642 3.0L V6, complete with the swirl flap servomotor included.

What This Part Does

The right intake manifold distributes charge air to the three cylinders on the passenger's side bank of the OM642 V6. The integrated swirl flap system adjusts intake port air turbulence to optimize combustion efficiency across different RPM ranges. A failed swirl flap motor causes the flaps to stick — and if the plastic linkage breaks, debris enters the engine, requiring immediate manifold replacement to prevent further damage.

When to Replace
