The oil pump is the single most critical component in your Sprinter's lubrication system — without it, every bearing, camshaft, and rotating assembly in the engine runs dry within seconds. A failing oil pump causes low oil pressure, rapid bearing wear, and eventual catastrophic engine failure. This Laso replacement oil pump for the T1N Sprinter's 5-cylinder diesel restores full oil flow and system pressure, protecting every internal engine component that depends on it.

What This Part Does

The engine oil pump is driven off the crankshaft and draws oil from the sump, pressurizing it and distributing it under pressure to all main and rod bearings, camshaft journals, valve train components, and the turbocharger oil supply. On the OM612 and OM647, the pump is a chain-driven gerotor design located inside the oil pan. When pump output drops from wear, varnish buildup, or internal damage, oil pressure falls — triggering warning lights, bearing knock, and accelerated wear across the entire engine.

Common Symptoms of a Failing Oil Pump

• Low oil pressure warning light at idle or under load
• Knocking or ticking from the engine, especially on startup
