What This Part Does

The DEF dosing valve (also called the AdBlue metering valve or injection nozzle) receives pressurized DEF from the delivery pump and injects a precisely metered spray of urea solution into the exhaust stream upstream of the SCR catalyst. The SCR catalyst uses this urea spray to convert harmful NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen and water. Precise dosing is critical — too little and the SCR system can't reduce NOx effectively; too much and urea crystallizes in the exhaust, causing blockages.
