DESCRIPTION:

The OM642 Sprinter uses multiple exhaust gas temperature sensors at different positions in the exhaust system — and this is the one located inside the diesel particulate filter itself. A failed DPF temperature sensor is one of the most direct causes of missed regeneration cycles, DPF fault codes, and premature filter replacement. This OEM replacement sensor restores accurate temperature monitoring inside the DPF and gets the regeneration system back on schedule.

What This Part Does

This EGT sensor is mounted directly in the DPF housing and monitors exhaust gas temperature within the filter during normal operation and active regeneration cycles. The ECU uses this data to verify that regeneration temperatures are being reached and maintained, confirm successful soot burnoff, and protect the DPF from thermal damage during extended regeneration events. When this sensor fails or reads out of range, the ECU cannot confirm regeneration status — leading to fault codes, incomplete regeneration, and progressive DPF clogging.

This sensor (0009050132) is the in-DPF unit. The OM642 Sprinter also uses a pre-turbocharger sensor (0009051405) and a downstream EGR cooler sensor (0071538428). Always verify your fault code, sensor location, and part number before ordering — installing the wrong sensor in the wrong position will not resolve the fault.
