A burnt-out H15 bulb on a VS30 Sprinter takes out both the high beam and the daytime running light in the same headlight assembly simultaneously — leaving the van with a dark headlamp that is both a safety issue and an immediate equipment violation. This is the Flosser H15 12V 55/15W dual-filament halogen headlight bulb for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans equipped with halogen headlights, sold individually for direct drop-in replacement.

What This Part Does

The H15 is a dual-filament halogen bulb that serves two functions from a single lamp. The high-wattage 55W filament provides the main driving beam when the headlights are switched to high beam. The low-wattage 15W filament operates continuously as the daytime running light (DRL) whenever the engine is running — providing the forward visibility mandated by modern vehicle safety regulations without requiring a separate DRL lamp assembly. Both filaments share the same PGJ23t-1 base but are positioned independently within the quartz glass envelope. When either filament fails, the corresponding function goes dark — a failed 15W filament disables the DRL while the high beam remains functional, and a failed 55W filament disables the high beam while the DRL continues to operate.

Common Symptoms of a Failing H15 Bulb

  • Daytime running light out on one side — DRL position dark while other lights function normally (15W filament failed)
  • High beam out on one side while DRL continues to operate (55W filament failed)
  • Both functions dark simultaneously — complete bulb failure
  • Dashboard headlight warning light indicating a front lamp circuit fault
  • Flickering or intermittent DRL or high beam from a failing filament

When to Replace

Replace when either filament is confirmed failed. Always replace headlight bulbs in pairs — left and right — to maintain consistent light output across the front of the van. A new bulb alongside an aged one produces noticeably different light color and intensity. Never touch the quartz glass envelope with bare fingers — skin oils cause thermal stress points that significantly shorten bulb life; use a clean cloth or gloves during installation.

VS30 Specific — Verify Headlight Configuration

This H15 bulb is for VS30 Sprinters equipped with halogen headlight assemblies. VS30 Sprinters were available with halogen, bi-xenon, and full LED headlight configurations — H15 bulbs are only used in the halogen configuration. Always verify your headlight type before ordering.
