Mercedes Sprinter Rear Brake Rotor – Zimmermann | NCV3 3500 DRW | #9064230112 (2007–2018)
A warped, grooved, or worn rear brake rotor on a Mercedes Sprinter 3500 DRW causes brake pedal pulsation under heavy braking, accelerates pad wear, and in a fully loaded dual-rear-wheel van reduces the stopping performance that comes from having true, flat braking surfaces on both sides of each rear axle hub. This is the Zimmermann rear brake rotor for NCV3 Sprinter 3500 dual-rear-wheel models, a direct-fit replacement that restores a proper braking surface and full rear brake performance.
What This Part Does
The rear brake rotor is the cast iron disc that rotates with the rear wheel and provides the friction surface the rear brake pads clamp against when stopping. On the NCV3 3500 DRW, the rear axle carries significantly greater load than a standard single-rear-wheel configuration — each hub supports the weight of two tires and the full load of the rear axle. The rotor is sized accordingly, with sufficient mass to absorb and dissipate the heat generated by the repeated braking forces of a loaded van in commercial service. The rotor also integrates the drum-in-hat parking brake system in its hub, making it a combined component that affects both service braking and parking brake function. When the rotor surface develops scoring, lateral runout (warping), or wears below minimum thickness, braking becomes uneven, the pedal pulses, and the parking brake drum surface degrades simultaneously.
Common Symptoms of a Worn or Warped Rear Brake Rotor
- Brake pedal pulsation or shudder during moderate to heavy braking
- Uneven or accelerated rear brake pad wear from contact with a scored or uneven surface
- Grinding or metallic noise from the rear axle area during braking
- Rotor thickness at or below the minimum discard specification on measurement
- Heat cracks, scoring, or deep grooves visible on the rotor friction surface
When to Replace
Replace when rotor thickness is at or below the minimum discard specification, when lateral runout exceeds tolerance, or when scoring or cracking is visible. Always replace rotors in pairs — left and right rear — to maintain balanced braking across the axle. Replace brake pads at the same time as rotors, and service the parking brake shoes if they are near the end of their service life.
NCV3 3500 DRW Specific — VIN Verification Required
This rotor is for NCV3 Sprinter 3500 models with dual rear wheels (DRW). It is not compatible with Sprinter 3500 single-rear-wheel models, Sprinter 2500, or VS30 Sprinters. Always verify your axle configuration and VIN before ordering. Contact us and we'll confirm fitment before you buy.
