A worn driveshaft center support bearing is one of the most common causes of vibration on a Sprinter — and it's often the last thing owners think to check. When the rubber isolator deteriorates or the bearing itself wears, the two-piece driveshaft loses its center support, introducing a vibration that's felt throughout the entire van under acceleration. This OEM-spec replacement carrier bearing with integrated dust cover restores proper driveshaft alignment and eliminates vibration at the source.

What This Part Does

The NCV3 Sprinter uses a two-piece driveshaft — and the center support bearing is the mounting point that holds the joint between the two sections. It consists of a sealed bearing pressed into a rubber isolator, which in turn mounts to the chassis. The rubber isolator absorbs driveline vibration while the bearing allows the shaft to rotate freely. When the rubber cracks from age and heat cycling, or the bearing wears, the driveshaft loses its center support — causing vibration, noise, and accelerated wear on the flex discs and U-joints.

Common Symptoms of a Failing Center Support Bearing

• Vibration felt through the floor or seat, especially under acceleration
• Humming or rumbling noise that changes with vehicle speed
• Clunking from underneath when engaging drive or reverse
• Visible cracking or deterioration of the rubber isolator

When to Replace

Replace at the first sign of driveline vibration or rubber deterioration. It's also strongly recommended to replace the driveshaft flex discs (guibo) at the same time — these components wear together and replacing just one often leaves the other at end of life.
