What This Part Does

The front strut mount bearing sits at the top of the front strut assembly, allowing the strut to rotate freely as the steering wheel is turned. It carries the load of the front suspension and provides the pivot point for the entire front strut column. When this bearing wears or corrodes, steering feel deteriorates and a characteristic creak or clunk develops — often mistaken for a worn ball joint or tie rod end. It also ensures the strut is centered correctly in the mount, which affects alignment geometry.
