A leaking turbo air duct seal on an OM642 Sprinter bleeds boost pressure before it reaches the intake manifold — causing power loss, sluggish throttle response, and in many cases a persistent under-boost fault code that won't resolve until the leak is found and the seal is replaced. This is the OEM turbo air duct seal kit for NCV3 and VS30 Sprinters equipped with the 3.0L OM642 V6 diesel engine, a complete set of the seals that secure the intake air duct at the turbocharger — the most common boost leak point on the OM642.

What This Part Does

The turbo air duct seal kit includes the seals that create airtight connections between the clean air intake duct and the turbocharger compressor inlet. On the OM642, the intake air travels from the air filter housing through the clean air line to the turbo inlet, where it is compressed and routed through the intercooler to the intake manifold. The seals at the turbo inlet connection are exposed to significant vibration, heat cycling, and pressure differential, and they degrade over time — hardening, cracking, or collapsing in a way that allows boost to escape at the connection point. This is one of the most frequently overlooked sources of boost loss on the OM642 and the most common source of post-service air leaks after any intake, turbo, or intercooler work. The seals must be replaced any time the air duct is moved or removed.

Common Symptoms of a Leaking Turbo Air Duct Seal

  • Hissing or whooshing sound from the engine bay under boost or acceleration
  • Loss of power or sluggish throttle response, particularly from a stop or under load
  • Under-boost fault codes or check engine light related to boost pressure or air mass plausibility
  • Black smoke under hard acceleration from an uncorrected air-to-fuel ratio caused by boost loss
  • Boost performance that degrades after intake or turbo service — a sign seals were not replaced

When to Replace

Replace any time the intake air duct is removed — including during air filter service, MAF sensor cleaning, turbocharger replacement, intercooler service, or any intake system work. Never reinstall the air duct on used seals. This kit is also the correct first step when diagnosing a boost leak on an OM642 that has not had the intake system disturbed recently.

NCV3 & VS30 OM642 Specific — VIN Verification Required

This seal kit is for Sprinters equipped with the 3.0L OM642 V6 diesel engine. It is not compatible with OM651 or OM654 4-cylinder engines. Always verify your engine code and VIN before ordering. Contact us and we'll confirm fitment before you buy.
