The swirl flap motor integrated into this manifold is a known failure item — and when it fails, broken plastic flap debris can be ingested directly into the engine. This is the OEM right (passenger) side intake manifold for 2007–2009 Sprinters with the 3.0L OM642 V6, complete with the turbo boost pressure servomotor.

What This Part Does

The right intake manifold distributes charge air to the three cylinders on the passenger's side bank of the OM642 V6. The integrated swirl flap system adjusts air turbulence in the intake ports to optimize combustion across different RPM ranges. When the swirl flap actuator motor fails or the plastic flap components break, the manifold must be replaced to restore proper intake function and eliminate the risk of debris entering the engine.
