A worn rear transmission mount on a Mercedes Sprinter allows the transmission to shift under load — producing clunking on acceleration and deceleration, vibration through the floor, and progressive misalignment that transfers stress to the driveshaft, flex disc, and transmission output shaft. This is the Febi rear transmission mount for NCV3 and VS30 Sprinters with 2WD (RWD) configurations, a direct replacement that restores transmission positioning, eliminates drivetrain clunk, and protects surrounding drivetrain components from the consequences of an unsecured transmission.

What This Part Does

The rear transmission mount is a rubber-bonded bracket that secures the rear of the transmission housing to the vehicle's chassis crossmember. It serves two purposes simultaneously: it holds the transmission in its precise designed position relative to the engine, driveshaft, and differential, and it isolates drivetrain vibrations from the chassis so they don't transmit into the floorpan and cabin. The rubber element absorbs the rotational torque pulses generated as the transmission engages and releases during shifts, and cushions the impact forces from hard acceleration and engine braking. When the rubber degrades, cracks, or separates from its bonded steel brackets, the transmission gains freedom of movement — producing the characteristic clunk when pulling away, on gear engagement, or during load reversals.

Common Symptoms of a Failing Transmission Mount

  • Clunking or thudding from under the van during acceleration, deceleration, or gear engagement
  • Vibration through the floor or seat, particularly at highway speeds or under load
  • Visible rubber cracking, separation, or collapse on the mount body
  • Driveshaft vibration or flex disc wear appearing prematurely — often caused by a collapsed mount altering driveline angles
  • Transmission movement visible when engine is revved with the van in park

When to Replace

Replace when the mount shows visible rubber deterioration, cracking, or separation, or when clunking is confirmed to the transmission mount area after ruling out the flex disc and driveshaft center support. Also replace when performing major drivetrain work — a collapsed mount is easily overlooked when other components are being removed and can cause repeat symptoms after new parts are installed.

2WD Only — VIN Verification Required

This transmission mount is for 2WD (RWD) NCV3 and VS30 Sprinters. It does not fit AWD/4WD Sprinter configurations. Always verify your drivetrain configuration and VIN before ordering. Contact us and we'll confirm fitment before you buy.
