DESCRIPTION:

Exhaust valves operate under the most extreme conditions in the engine — opening and closing thousands of times per minute while exposed directly to hot combustion gases, before being cooled only by brief contact with the valve seat. On a high-mileage T1N Sprinter, burnt, pitted, or worn exhaust valves cause compression loss, rough running, and increased emissions. This Mahle OEM exhaust valve for the OM647 2.7L 5-cylinder diesel is a direct replacement for cylinder head service or engine rebuilds. Sold individually.

What This Part Does

The exhaust valve opens at the end of each combustion cycle to allow hot exhaust gases to exit the cylinder before the intake stroke begins. It must seal the combustion chamber completely when closed — any leakage past a burnt or worn valve face causes compression loss, misfires, and power reduction on the affected cylinder. On the OM647, each cylinder has two exhaust valves and two intake valves, for a total of 20 valves across all five cylinders.

When to Replace
