The intake elbow O-ring on the OM642 is one of the most common sources of boost leaks and intake air loss on the Sprinter — small enough to be overlooked, but impactful enough to cause limp mode, reduced power, and persistent fault codes. This Victor Reinz O-ring seals the connection between the intake elbow and the intake manifold on the OM642, and should be replaced any time the intake elbow is removed. At $5–10, it's one of the cheapest insurance policies on the engine.

What This Part Does

This O-ring seals the mating joint between the intake elbow and the intake manifold on the OM642 V6. It prevents pressurized charge air from escaping the intake circuit at this connection point. A deteriorated or missing O-ring at this location allows boost pressure to leak — causing the ECU to see reduced airflow, triggering lean conditions, power loss, and fault codes that can mimic more expensive failures like a failing turbocharger or MAF sensor.
