DESCRIPTION:

The OM642 Sprinter uses multiple exhaust gas temperature sensors at different positions throughout the exhaust system — and this is the one located downstream of the diesel particulate filter. A failed post-DPF sensor is a direct cause of emissions system fault codes and disrupted regeneration verification. This OEM replacement restores accurate downstream temperature monitoring and ensures the ECU can confirm successful DPF regeneration cycles.

What This Part Does

This EGT sensor is positioned downstream of the DPF, monitoring exhaust temperature after the filter. The ECU uses this data to verify that DPF regeneration has completed successfully, confirm that soot has been burned off, and protect downstream exhaust components from over-temperature conditions during active regeneration. Without accurate post-DPF temperature data, the ECU cannot confirm regeneration completion — leading to fault codes, repeated regeneration attempts, and progressive filter loading.

• Check engine light with exhaust temperature or DPF fault codes
