The OM642 V6 uses a transverse charge air tube that connects across the two intake manifold banks — and when the gasket at the tube-to-engine junction fails, unmetered air enters the intake circuit and throws off everything downstream. This Elring OEM transverse tube gasket seals this specific junction and must be replaced any time the charge air crossover tube is removed. It's a low-cost consumable that's easy to overlook and expensive to diagnose if neglected.

What This Part Does

This gasket seals the mating surface between the intake manifold transverse (crossover) tube and the engine at the tube-to-block connection point. The transverse tube routes charge air between the two banks of the OM642 V6 intake system. A failed gasket at this point creates an intake air leak that introduces unmetered air into the system — causing lean running conditions, rough idle, reduced power, and fault codes that can be difficult to locate without a thorough intake leak inspection.
